Dr. Balch is a board certified ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon who offers the latest advancements in eye surgery as well as facial plastic surgery.

A native Floridian, Dr. Balch is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and the University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed his internship at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville and ophthalmology residency training at Emory University. Additionally, he was fellowship trained in Ophthalmic Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA/Jules Stein Eye Institute and Beverly Hills, CA. In Dr. Balch’s highly specialized field, fewer than 30 doctors per year complete such training. And less than 500 surgeons in the US can offer the wide variety of such highly specialized eye and plastic surgeries.

With over 20 years of experience, and having performed thousands of laser surgeries, Dr. Balch offers the latest advancements in Laser Cataract Surgery, along with the most advanced lens implants to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses. These ‘state of the art’ surgeries are generally pain-free and require no stitches, no needles, no shots, and no patches. Dr. Rosado is now a full time associate here at Gainesville Eye Physicians. Originally from Puerto Rico, Dr. Rosado has been working in eye care for almost 20 years. She is a board certified Optometrist and specializes in the medical treatment of most eye diseases including Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma and Diabetes as well as glasses and contact lens fittings. She is experienced in pediatric care and sees the majority of our pediatric patients. Dr. Rosado is fluent in English and Spanish. In addition to caring for our existing patients, Dr. Rosado is also accepting new patients.

Dr. Ahmaida Zeglam is a fellowship trained Cornea Specialist and Ophthalmologic Surgeon.  He was born in Daytona Beach, FL.   Dr. Zeglam earned his undergraduate degree at Wichita State University in Kansas and his Medical Degree at the University of Arkansas.  He graduated in the top 10% of his medical school class and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the most prestigious society among physicians. Dr. Zeglam trained at the University of Florida for Ophthalmology Residency and then went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Cornea and External Disease. 

Dr. Zeglam has extensive training in the latest medical and surgical techniques in ophthalmology.  He is experienced in laser cataract surgery and small incision, no stitch cataract surgery.  Dr. Zeglam has a special interest in correcting astigmatism and using multifocal lenses to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses after cataract surgery.  He manages corneal and ocular surface diseases, and has training in partial and full thickness transplants. Dr. Zeglam also treats glaucoma, age related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.

As a corneal specialist, Dr. Zeglam is also trained in additional laser refractive surgery techniques. This allows him to offer a wide range of surgical options for vision correction. And this makes him one of the best trained surgeons in North Florida.
